Evacuation of the silicone oil tamponade during the cataract surgery

Our video-presentation shows an evacuation of the silicone oil tamponade during the cataract surgery throught posterior capsulorhexis.

Our group:
February 2001 - Feruary 2002
21 patients (8 men, 10 women, average age 64,7 years)
Duration of the silicone oil tamponade (average) : 14,4 months

Conclusions:
Advantages of combined surgery ( cataract extraction and silicone oil evacuation)
1.A good control of the posterior segment condition.
2.An opportunity to retain the silicone oil tamponade.
3.Complete reconstruction of the eye during just one surgery process.
4.Decreased risk of postsclerotomiam complications.
