Cataract surgery after pars plana vitrectomy

Francesco Boscia

Bari, Italy

Cataract formation is common after pars plana vitrectomy. Cataract surgery in this setting poses difficulties due to the absence of vitreous support, to the laxity of the zonula and to the frequent associated signs of phlogosis. Techniques and results of cataract surgery alone and in combination with silicone oil removal after pars plana vitrectomy for several reasons will be presented.
