Thessaloniki, Greece.

Glaucoma in eyes that have received injection of silicone oil is notoriously difficult to treat, and destruction of the ciliary body is often the only viable option. Transconjuctival cyclodiode has been reported to be a more controlled way to destroy the ciliary body than cryotherapy. Patients & methods: Retrospective note review of 40 patients who received cyclodiode. Mean age was 66.2 (19-74), mean follow up period 27.2 mo (2-64) and mean number of treatments was 1.75 (1-4).Results: IOP was <22 in 77.5% of patients. Mean IOP dropped from 31.75 to 22.02 on the first postoperative month and further to 18.14 on the last visit. Only one patient developed persistent hypotony during the follow up period. Conclusion: Cyclodiode is relatively safe and effective in treating glaucoma following injection of silicone oil.
