Retinal detachment following congenital cataract surgery

Paul Sullivan

London, UK

42 retinal detachments (38 patients) with retinal detachment after congenital cataract were identified using a clinical database. 53% of patients were blind in their fellow eye. Although the final success rate was 83%, many patients required more than one operation and only 26% had a final vision of 6/18 or better.
