Indirect ophthalmoscope laser cerclage prophylaxis against pseudophakic retinal detachment

Indirect ophthalmoscopic laser delivery has dramatically altered our ability to prevent rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) in certain high risk eyes. By applying bilateral treatment, we have been able to reduce the RRD rate in the fellow eye to 0% from greater than 20% (p<0.00001) in eyes that were untreated or received focal treatment.
