Pseudophakic R.D. severity correlated with phaco and NdYag onset delay

Didier Ducournau

Nantes, France

PPRD after Yag capsulotomy seems to be more severe than PPRD after phaco without
Yag regarding the failure rate and the PVR stages distribution. But the difference is not statistically significant. PPRD are more severe if they occur in the first six months after cataract extraction or after Yag. If the Yag is performed early after cataract extraction (in the six or twelve first months) there is a cumulating effect in the PPRD severity. This results enhances the necessity for a better prevention of PCO.
