Pseudophakik R.D. (PPRD) onset delay and frequency.

Didier Ducournau

Nantes, France

Although PPRD studies do not seem to be an up to date subject if we consider the number of annual recent publications on Medline in comparison with 15 years ago, it can be interesting to see if a phaco has changed anything. This will never be done by prospective study regarding the needed number of patient and the necessary follow up.
The mean unset delay for a non complicated phaco is five years eight months. After a complicated phaco, it is one year shorter. This unset delay explains that most of the studies on PRD after phaco are not relevant. PPRD frequency seems for us to be the same today even if we cannot prove it.
