PEELS: Pigment Epithelium Endoscopic Laser Surgery

The video illustrates a new procedure for treatment of CNV´s in ARMD,
called "Pigment Epithelium Endoscopic Laser Coagulation, PEELS":
A 45-60 min procedure with Phaco plus IOL implantation, detachment of the
retina limited to the posterior pole, diathermy of the area around the
detachment retinotomy, subretinal injection of viscoelastics or
perfluorocarbons followed by the introduction of a high resolution
endoscope (II 4000, Insight Instruments Inc.) through this retinotomy into
the subretinal space, and subsequent laser coagulation of the CNV complex.
