Removal of dislocated lens with a perfluorocarbon liquid and implantation of scleral fixated posterior chamber intraocular lens

Murat Oncel

Istanbul, Turkey

Removal of dislocated hard lenses remains hazardous. Several techniques prone to failure and complications have been reported. We used perfuoro phenanthrane,a perfluorocarbon liquid, to facilitate the safe removal of posteriorly dislocated hard lens. The dislocated lens were floated off the retinal surface by perfuorocarbon liquid in the anterior vitreous cavity and delivered by using standard extracapsular cataract extraction techniques. After removal of the dislocated lens, scleral fixated posterior chamber intraocular lens was implanted.
