Dislocated iol and old giant retinal tear

Joaquin Castro

Oviedo, Spain

We present the case of a patient 66 years old who was treated with argon laser twelve years ago because of a giant retinal tear without retinal detachment. Ten years later he presented a cataract and was operated with Phaco and posterior IOL implant into the capsular bag. Two years later the patient suffered a spontaneous dislocation of the IOL and capsular bag into the vitreous cavity. In the operation we removed the dislocate IOL, inserted a new anterior IOL and completed the vitrectomy showing the old giant retinal tear.
