SCLERAL
DEPRESSION (CLEANING THE PERIPHERY WITH THE HELP OF TORPIDO LIGHTS AND
VITREOUS SHAVER)
A.Nikolakopoulos MD*, S.Gotzaridis MD, A.Vakalis MD.
Greece
Purpose:To evaluate
the safety and the ontrolled of this technique in pseudophakic eyes with
retina detachment.
Methods:To overcome the difficulty of a safe (cleaning) of the periphery
in aphakic eyes with a mobile retina we are using the 25g four port illumination
system (Torpido Light System). This way we can use the other hand for stretching
the periphery and together with the vitreous shaver to remove the peripheral
membranes. We perform this method in 11 cases and in only one of those
we made an iatrogenic ontrolled from a flap of a tear.
Conclusions: In a complicated pseudophakic retina detachment with vitreous
loss there is a great help for bimanual surgery with a help of Torpido
Light System increasing the safety and the efficiency of this difficult
manuvre.
Take -home message: Stretching the detached retina without assistance
in pseudophakic eyes without posterior capture can be much more ontrolled
with the use of the above technique.
